Silver Stars offers end-to-end project management and building services for renovation or ground-up construction of residential and commercial buildings. It also handles all carpentry needs such as dry walling, kitchens and cupboard installation through it’s carpentry arm.

History

Silver Stars is a construction company with a proud history. Owner Michelle Chidrawi is a successful business woman in a competitive male dominated industry -  no wonder she has been featured in woman’s magazines such as Rooi Rose and Finesse

It started in August 1998 with a small work from home carpentry business doing mostly kitchens and built-in cupboards. As her reputation and business grew Michelle was able to hang up the hammer and go into project management. She started to take on large scale projects e.g. they installed dry walls and prepared 33 floors worth of offices for occupation by a government department. Operating independently as Closets & Stuff, the carpentry arm of her business is still thriving today.

Early in 2005 Michelle decided it was time for a new challenge. Many customers wanted to make building changes at the same time as refurbishing their kitchen and she was up for it. At first it was only home renovations together with partner Rita. Before long  Comfort Zone started to construct complete buildings – including a three story house.

Still striving forward Michelle struck out on her own and in 2009 re-launched the construction business as Silver Stars. Since then it has gone from strength to strength and ventured into commercial renovations. Most recently they have been contracted to construct a 1500m² warehouse with 550m² double storey office space. After more than 13 years in the industry the future shines bright for Silver Stars

Enterprise Development

The company employs a small team of construction staff. It operates mainly via long term mutually beneficial relationships with an ecosystem of independent micro enterprises providing a variety of sub-contracting services. Many of these businesses are black-owned.
